Barcelona en un álbum | Barcelona in an album

Tenía muchas ganas de trabajar con la colección de papeles 'Antoni Gaudí', de IluIlus. Siempre me ha parecido una ciudad creativa, fotogénica y llena de rincones en los que perderse. Lugares comunes pero también otros más escondidos. Mi propia ciudad.
En este álbum he querido sintetizar qué es, para mi, Barcelona. Partiendo de esta colección, he seleccionado algunas imágenes de mis años vividos en la capital catalana.
I felt like working a lot of with the collection of papers 'Antoni Gaudí', by IluIlus. A creative city, photogenic and full of corners in which to get lost. Commonplaces but also other more hidden. My own city.
In this album I have wanted to synthesize what is, for my, Barcelona. Setting off from this collection, I have selected some images of my years lived in the Catalan capital.



Para empezar, quería que la propia forma del álbum fuera diferente. Y como la portada se iba a basar en las baldosas de Gaudí, qué mejor que hacerlo hexagonal. Sí, un álbum de fotos hexagonal. De hecho, ésta forma geométrica ha sido la que he utilizado en todo el álbum, tanto en fotografías, como en los sellos y formas del papel.
To start with, I wanted for the form of the album  something different. And as the cover was going to be based on the tiles of Gaudí, nothing better that to make it hexagonal. Yes, a hexagonal photograph album. In fact, this one geometrical form has been the one that I have used in all the album, in photographs, as well as in the stamps and forms of the paper.





La decoración de las páginas interiores se basa, principalmente, en la combinación de estos elementos:
- Papeles 'Antoni Gaudí' de IluIlus
- Sellos de la colección 'Capsule-Geometric Neon' de Docrafts
- Pinturas acrílicas

The decoration of the interior pages is based, mainly, on the combination of these elements:
- Papers 'Antoni Gaudí' by IluIlus
- Stamps of the 'Capsule-Geometric Neon' collection of Docrafts
- Acrylic paintings









La colección Gaudí recoge la esencia de la ciudad, de los edificios que todos conocemos y que inspiran este álbum. A partir de esta combinación, junto con los papeles básicos que combinaban y pequeñas etiquetas y otros complementos, fui dando forma al álbum.
The collection Gaudí collect the essence of the city, of the buildings that we all know and that inspire this album. From this combination, together with the basic papers that they combined and small labels and other complements, I kept giving shape to the album.



La encuadernación es sencilla: un lomo en zig-zag, uniendo las páginas de dos en dos. Como es un álbum de pequeño tamaño, soporta bien el peso de las hojas.
The binding is simple: a spine in zig-zag, joining the pages of two in two. As it is an album of small size, it holds well the weight of the sheets.

Musée d'Orsay layout

Retomando las páginas de scrap, comparto un diseño en blanco y negro.
París es una fuente de inspiración constante. En este caso, la protagonista es una foto tomada desde uno de los relojes del Museo d'Orsay, junto al Sena. Uno de mis lugares favoritos de la ciudad.
La imagen determinó cómo hacer la composición.
Taking up the pages of scrap, I share a blank and white design.
Paris is a source of constant inspiration. In this case, the protagonist is a photo taken from one of the clocks of the Museum d'Orsay, beside Seine. One of my favorite places of the city.The image determined how to make the composition. 

Una franja vertical central, utilizando los papeles de la colección "Capture Life - B&W" de Echo Park Paper, junto con el resto de motivos y etiquetas, enmarcan la foto. Salpiqué con acuarela negra y gris el fondo, para que no quedara tan 'limpio'.
A central vertical strip, using the papers of the collection "Capture Life - B&W" by Echo Park Paper, with the rest of elements and labels, frame the photo. I splashed the background with black and gray watercolor, so that it did not remain so 'clean'.

Para finalizar, utilicé el abecedario de American Crafts para rotular la página con el nombre del museo, añadiendo algunas palabras escritas con trazo rápido, para que la composición fuera más dinámica.

To finish, I used the alphabet of American Crafts to label the page with the name of the museum, adding some words written with fast lines, so that the composition is more dynamic.

Y es que París siempre es una buena idea...

Paris is always a good idea...

Album "Rendez-vous à Paris"

¿Es posible condensar la esencia de una ciudad en un álbum de fotos? La respuesta es que no, no es posible. Es imposible trasladar todo lo que una cámara no puede recoger: aromas, luces y sombras, matices, texturas....
Is it possible to condense the essence of a city in a photograph album? The answer is no, is not possible. It is impossible to transfer all what a camera cannot capture: aromas, lights and shadows, details, textures....

Quizás por eso ha costado tanto condensar la esencia de París entre las páginas de un álbum. En un intento de hacerlo, hoy os muestro el resultado.
Perhaps because of that it has been difficult  to condense the essence of Paris between the pages of an album. In an attempt to make it, I today show you the result.

Las imágenes están impresas en blanco y negro, en formato cuadrado. Con ello quería hacer uniforme las fotos de diversos viajes, para ceder el protagonismo a los edificios, rincones y calles que más me gustan de esta ciudad.
Photographs are printed in black and white, in square format. With that, I wanted to do more uniform the photos of different trips, to yield the protagonism to the buildings, places and streets that I like from this city.

Los papeles siguen la misma gama cromática: grises, blancos y negros con diversos estampados y texturas. El hilo conductor, además de la temática, son los detalles en dorado que van de página en página (washi-tapes, sellos, embossing, pintura...)
The papers follow the same chromatic range: greys, whites and blacks with different prints and textures. The conducting theme, besides the subject, are the details in golden that go of page on page (washi-tape, stamps, embossing, painting...)

Las técnicas también son diversas. He querido experimentar y arriesgar más que en otras ocasiones. La clave está en usar menos las tijeras y menos los pinceles, rasgar más el papel, utilizar diversas herramientas para pintar, mezclar... Y dejarse llevar, pensando que el aprendizaje está en el propio proceso.
Techniques are also different. I wanted to experience and to risk more than on other occasions. The key is in using less  the scissors and the paintbrushes, tearing more the paper, to use different tools to paint, to mix... And thinking that the learning is in the process itself.

Mini Álbum de Otoño | Autumn's mini-album

Hoy os presentamos el último trabajo de Lola, creadora de La sonrisa Creativa.

Es un álbum inspirado en el otoño, sus colores, texturas y detalles. 

Today we present you the last work of Lola, creator of La Sonrisa Creativa (Creative Smile).

It's an album inspired by the fall, its colors, textures and details.

Utilizando una base de madera, sencilla de manipular, y un par de anillas de encuadernación; este álbum tiene páginas de diferente tamaño, cintas de tela, un pequeño tronco, hojas y un gran lazo para rematar el trabajo.

Using a wooden base, easy of manipulating, and a couple of binding rings; this album has pages of different size, ribbons, tapes of fabric, a small branch, leaves and a big ribbon to finish  the work.

Una mini página de otoño | An autumn's mini-layout

Hoy, aprovechando la inspiración otoñal, cómo realzar una única foto utilizando diferentes materiales. Para ello, además de la fotografía y unos cuantos papeles que combinen, he utilizado unas letras adhesivas, una bolsa de papel kraft, una hoja de Quercus (o Roble) y un poco de fibra de madera (la podéis encontrar en la frutería protegiendo las granadas) También he incluido unas pequeñas maderas, muy fina, de una caja de un pan que compré hace unos días. ¿Quién dijo miedo? Hoy, combinamos materiales.
Today, making use of the fall inspiration, I write one post about how to enhance just a photo, using different materials. For that, besides the photograph and some papers that combine, I have used some adhesive letters, one envelope-bag of kraft paper, a leaf of Quercus (or Oak) and a bit of wood fibre (you can find it in the fruit store protecting the pomegranates) Also, I've included some small woods, very fine, of a box of a bread that I bought some days ago. Who said fear? Today, we combine materials.

La idea es sencilla, ya que simplemente he ido superponiendo capas de diferentes materiales. En este caso sólo he utilizado la tinta color café para matizar algunos bordes del papel. El sobre de papel kraft lo he plegado, para darle relieve al conjunto. Y con la cinta adhesiva de doble cara, se van pegando las diferentes capas de materiales para crear el conjunto.
The idea is simple, I have superposed layers of different materials. In this case I have only used the coffee color ink to change some edges of the paper. I've folded the envelope of kraft paper, to give relief to the set. And with the adhesive tape of double side, the different material layers keep sticking to create the set.

Lo último ha sido utilizar el abecedario adhesivo y un rotulador de tinta blanca para escribir los conceptos que me recuerdan esta foto: "naturaleza, bosque, setas, Pirineos, hojas... es otoño"
The last step has been to use the adhesive alphabet and a pen of white ink to write the concepts that remind me of this photo: "nature, forest, mushrooms, Pyrenees, leaves... it's fall"

Zinemaldia in paper

Aprovechando que estos días se ha celebrado el Festival de cine de San Sebastián (Donostia Zinemaldia) he recordado un pequeño álbum que hizo Lola hace tres años, cuando pudimos asistir a la clausura del festival.
As these days the San Sebastian Film Festival  (Donostia Zinemaldia) has been celebrated, I have remembered a small album that Lola made three years ago, when could go the closure of the festival. 

Es un álbum sencillo encuadernado con una sola anilla. Para las páginas se ha utilizado el propio diario del festival, lo que hace el álbum único y absolutamente personalizado. Elgunas fotos en tamaño pequeño, junto con la entrada a la gala de clausura completan el conjunto.
Una manera fácil de recordar buenos momentos y de hacer un regalo especial.
It's a simple album bound with a single ring. For the pages,  the newspaper of the festival, what the only and absolutely personalized album makes, has been used. Some photos in small size, together with the entry to the closure soiree complete the set.
A way easy to remember good moments and to do a special gift. 

¡Bienvenido Otoño! | Welcome Autumn!

Otoño no es sólo el mes en el que los días empiezan a ser más cortos y se nota que llega el frío. Otoño es, además, una estación del año en que los árboles cambian de color (¡y el espectáculo es precioso!), apetece ponerse algo más de ropa, abrigarse, las bebidas calientes, las tardes en casa y, por qué no, encontrar la inspiración donde menos lo esperas.

En esta ocasión, aprovechando los colores típicos de otoño, he elaborado unas postales con restos de papeles, un spray de pintura y un troquel con forma de hoja.

Autumn is not only the month in which the days start to be shorter and it hat the cold arrives. Autumn is, specially, a station of the year in which the trees change color (and the show is precious!), putting something else of clothes feels like, the hot drinks,  the afternoons at home and, why not, to find the inspiration where you wait for it less.
On this occasion, making use of the typical colors of fall, I have elaborated some postcards with remains of papers, a paint in spray and a punch with form of leaf.

El primer paso es salpicar algo de pintura verde sobre los papeles. Para cambiar y aumentar su textura, antes de troquelarlos, es mejor arrugarlos, sin miramientos. Así se consigue un efecto más irregular propio de las hojas auténticas.

The first step is to splash it something of green paint on the papers. In order to change and increase their texture, before punch them, it is better to wrinkle them, without considerations. Like this, a more irregular effect characteristic of the authentic leaves is obtained.

En esta ocasión, he utilizado un conjunto de sellos de abecedario y unas sencillas cartulinas blancas. De esta forma, todo el protagonismo recae sobre las hojas de papel, cuyo color y textura contrastan absolutamente con el fondo blanco.

On this occasion, I have used a set of alphabet stamps and some simple white cardboards. This way, all the protagonism falls on the leaves of paper, whose color and texture contrast absolutely with the white background.

Además, aprovechando las que han sobrado, he pegado unas cuantas hojas más sobre una cartulina gris, formando una corona. Es una buena idea para poder hacer una tarjeta de felicitación si alguien de vuestros amigos cumple años durante esta época.

Besides, making use of those that have been in excess, I have stuck some leaves more on a grey cardboard, forming a crown. It's a good idea to be able to make a greetings card if somebody of your friends celebrates years during this period.
