De flamencos tropicales... | About tropical flamingos...

Siempre he creído en la importancia de pensar bien en los regalos a realizar, en cuidar el detalle y la personalización de los mismos. De hecho, creo si piensas bien qué regalar y a quién, tardarás poco en dar con el regalo perfecto.
Con motivo de un aniversario, se me ocurrió realizar un cuadro inspirado en los estampados de flamencos y plantas tropicales que tanto abundan últimamente. Lo cierto es que la persona receptora del mismo es fan de estos animales, por lo que visualicé enseguida el resultado final.

I have always believed in the importance of good thinking on gifts to make, in caring details and customizing them. In fact , I think if you think well what to give and to whom , it will take less time in finding the perfect gift.On the occasion of an anniversary , I thought of making a design inspired by the prints of flamingos and tropical plants. The truth is that the person receiving the gift is fan of these animals , so I immediately visualized the end result.


El primer paso fue seleccionar una gama de papeles en diversos tonos verdes, junto a uno de color fucsia degradado.
The first step was to select an assortment of paper in various shades of green and one of weathered pink.

 

A continuación, creé diferentes tipos de hojas inspiradas en la vegetación tropical. Me gustan especialmente las hojas de la planta conocida como "costilla de Adán" (de nombre científico  Monstera deliciosa. ¿No os encanta?) También hice la silueta de un flamenco en papel fucsia, junto con dos pequeños detalles en color marfil y negro.
Then I created different types of tropical vegetation leaves. I especially like the leaves of the plant known as " Adam's Rib " ( scientific name Monstera deliciosa . Would not you love it? )  I also made the silhouette of a flamingo pink paper and two small details in ivory and black

La disposición de las hojas la realicé sobre fondo negro, dejando que algunas sobresalieran del passe-partout, de modo que dieran un mayor relieve. Así se rompe con la rectitud de las líneas, tal y como haría la vegetación en la vida real.
I made the arrangement of leaves on black background, leaving some over the passe- partout , so give more relief. Thus, straight lines are broken , as vegetation would in real life.

The Selby & Dom Pérignon

Todd Selby es fotógrafo, director, autor,  ilustrador y, desde 2008, creador de "The Selby", una web que aglutina fotografías, ilustraciones y videos de gente interesante y espacios creativos.
Su última colaboración es un proyecto para la casa francesa Dom Pérignon: reunir a nueve de los cocineros más innovadores e intelectuales del mundo para contribuir a la creación de un menú que se maridara con Dom Pérignon Rosé Vintage 2003.
De todo el proyecto me quedo con la reinterpretación de la etiqueta diseñada por Todd Selby para Dom Pérignon.

Todd Selby is a photographer, director, author, illustrator, and since 2008, creator of "The Selby", a website where Todd posted photographs, illustrations and videos of interesting people and creative spaces. Their latest collaboration is a project for the French house Dom Pérignon: bring together nine of the most innovative chefs and intellectuals of the world to create a menu that will be matched with Dom Pérignon Rosé Vintage 2003. 
I like the whole project, but I prefer the reinterpretation of the label designed by Todd Selby for Dom Pérignon.

Superb es una nueva tipografía, nacida de la mano de Resistenza. Además de la web del estudio, han creado un precioso vídeo en el que las letras cobran vida.

Sketching

Hablar de un sketch es hablar de un dibujo de trazo rápido, hecho a mano y a menudo como un boceto de lo que será un dibujo final. A menudo se une al art journal, una especie de diario artístico, en el que plasmar ideas, dibujos rápidos o caligrafía. Hoy os presento cinco ejemplos de sketching que he encontrado.

Talk about a sketch is talking about a quick line drawing, handmade and often as a sketch of what will be a final drawing. Often joined the art journal, a kind of art diary, which embody ideas, quick sketches or handwriting. Today I present five examples of sketching I found.

Sobres y cartas | Envelopes and letters

Puede parecer que con las nuevas tecnologías se están perdiendo ciertos detalles, como enviar una carta postal a alguien. Una carta de las que tienes que pegar un sello y meterla en un buzón. Personalmente, me gusta tanto enviarlas como recibirlas. Enviarlas me gusta porque puedes pensar en la persona a quién va dirigida, decorando el sobre, personalizándolo, etc. Y recibirlas me gusta todavía más porque significa que alguien se ha acordado de mi.

It may seem that new technologies are missing certain details, such as sending a postcard to someone. A letter you have to stick a stamp and put it in a mailbox. Personally, I like both, send and receive. I like send it because you can think of the person to whom it is addressed, envelope decorating, customizing, etc.. And I like to receive them even more because it means that someone has remembered me.

1. Estos sobres me gustan por lo decorados que están, sería el ejemplo del scrap aplicado a un sobre.

2. Esto sería la evolución de la imagen interior: poder utilizar los sobres para hacer un álbum único donde guardar todas las cartas y los recuerdos que te envían.

3. Estos sobre me parecen perfectos para enviar alguna carta en primavera o verano. ¡Son todo color!

4. Esta idea me parece perfecta para reciclar algún papel que no tenga demasiada vida, y darle un nuevo uso en el que destaque algún color potente, como este sello en color turquesa.

5. Este sobre es idóneo para invitaciones a actos o celebraciones, más que para envíos postales (puesto que, a menudo, las cartas sufren algún desperfecto por el camino) Es una buena opción para hacer destacar la invitación incluso antes de haber abierto el sobre.

6. Estos sobre me encantan: con los colores coordinados, un estampado llamativo.... Incluso si son de tela y tienen un formato estándar, podéis enviarlos por correo ordinario. ¡Éxito seguro!

7. Por último, uno de mis favoritos: los sobres con ilustración en el interior. Estos en concreto son tan bonitos por fuera como por dentro, con unos dibujos que recuerdan a las láminas antiguas de botánica o zoología.
7.  Finally, one of my favorites: envelopes with the illustration inside. These in particular are so beautiful outside and inside, with drawings reminiscent of antique prints of botany and zoology.

Como véis, no hay excusa: de vez en cuando, un e-mail menos, una carta postal más.
